GovSpot.com Honors Outstanding
Local and State Government Web Sites

accessIndiana Receives First "Government Site of the Month" Award

EVANSTON, Ill. (March 6, 2001) - GovSpot.com (http://www.govspot.com), a high-utility, non-partisan government and civic information portal, introduces its new "Government Site of the Month" award program. Created to recognize outstanding local and state government Web sites, the award is presented each month to an innovative site offering a wealth of government services and information online. accessIndiana (http://www.state.in.us/), the state homepage for Indiana, has been selected as the "Government Site of the Month" for March.

To be considered for the award, local or state government initiatives must demonstrate innovative use of technology. GovSpot.com editors look for sites that save citizens time, make efficient use of taxpayer dollars and improve access to government information. Nominations are being accepted at http://www.govspot.com/siteofmonth/nominate.htm. Winners will be recognized for their achievements on the front page of GovSpot.com and considered for the site's "Government Site of the Year" award at the end of 2001.

This month's winner, accessIndiana, provides 130 online applications to make dealing with the government hassle-free. From the site, visitors can access school, employment, voting, tax, health and environment information and much more. Indiana businesses can save time and money at the site's Online Services section by interacting with the state more efficiently and conveniently. State citizens can file taxes, renew a driver's license, find election results, search for winning lottery numbers and much more. accessIndiana also offers a special section for visitors to Indiana, which includes information about lodging, transportation and state attractions.

"Effective e-government initiatives deserve more recognition," said Lauren Zollinger, GovSpot.com managing editor. "By celebrating the achievements of individual states and communities, we hope to encourage innovation across the country."
